Abstract

From the perspective of word order, both Chinese and English are “subject-verb-object”; In sentence patterns, the structure of Chinese discourses is closed while English is open. This paper discusses the Chinese closeness and English openness by analyzing Chinese-English materials in recent years, points out some translation problems caused by the different structures of two languages in subject-verb-object(SVO)and subject-verb-predicator(SVP) patterns, and proposes feasible methods in C-E translation.
